New law adds money to HOPE Scholarship and grant program

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Central Georgia Technical College is looking forward to students enrolling in fall classes.

The technical college is expecting more students to take advantage of a new law recently signed by Governor Nathan Deal to establish more money for the HOPE grant.

The new change to the hope program includes a three percent increase–for CGTC students that means the program will pay $65 per credit hour.

The CGTC fee is $85 per credit.

Now students only have to pay $20 per credit hour.

The new Georgia law establishes the Zell Miller Grant, which falls under the umbrella of the HOPE Scholarship and grant program.

“We feel like these changes to the financial aid program will be greatly beneficial for Central Georgia Tech and its students,” said Janet Kelly, Assistant Vice President of Marketing. “This program will encourage students who may have not been able to finish their program due to financial programs.”
