New GED office opens in Twiggs County

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twiggs county celebrated opening a brand new General Educational Development office, Tuesday.

The new GED office is a joint venture between Central Georgia Technical College and Twiggs County Public Schools.

One Twiggs County school board member, Shirley Stokes told the crowd she remembers when she studied for her GED in the same building.

Twiggs County School Superintendent, Elgin Dixon says Stokes is an example of how educating county residents can benefit the community.

“It is very important that we understand, that we educate the whole family because the value of education is, put before generations to come, “ said Dixon. “We will then see an increase in our graduation rate.”

The new GED office is located at 5334 Old Gordon Road, and registration to sign up for the GED courses is now underway.
