New Design for Amerson Water Works Park
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Amerson Water Works Park in Macon is getting a new name and a new look.
Nearly $6 million dollars in federal funds and grants will help with the re-design. The new park named, Amerson River Park, will feature over 7 miles of walking trails and several canoe launches. Architects say the goal was to design a park where people could easily connect with nature.
“We want passive, recreational activities such as walking, jogging, biking, which are active but at the same time they’re not team sports, and you get to enjoy the beauty of nature,” says architect Scott Williams, Cranston Engineering Group.
Construction is set to begin at the end of the year. The park is expected to be complete in early 2014.
