New Bibb County Interim Superintendent sworn into position

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The new Bibb County Interim Superintendent is almost ready to take on her new position.

Dr. Kelley Castlin-Gacutan was sworn in during Thursday night’s school board meeting. She won’t take on the new role until January 1st.

The board is still in the process of reviewing resumes to find a permanent leader for the district.

“We want to be looking at who could do this job, who’s a sitting superintendent, who has the experience and try to recruit them to come to Bibb County. It’s a much more efficient way to hire a superintendent than to expect them to apply for jobs,” school board member Lynn Farmer said.

The school board wants to hire an independent contractor to help recruit existing superintendents. Farmer doesn’t expect the contractor to cost the district a significant amount of money.
