New App Sends Free Sex Offender Alerts
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -Parents are always doing what they can to keep their families safe and now there is an app that’s making it even easier.
AlertID is a free service that sends sex offender alerts through the internet and text messages. According to a news release, the service sends alerts to 166 million people across the nation. The company announced on Wednesday that Georgia is one of the newest states to get the app.
“If someone moves into your neighborhood or near your child’s school you’ll receive a text and email alert letting you know so that you will know exactly what’s happening in your neighborhood,” AlertID founder Keli Wilson said during a phone interview.
You type in your address and AlertID will show you where sex offenders live in your area as well as update you on any crime alerts
Wilson says this is a great tool for busy parents.
“In this day of age we’re so busy to go looking for that information at all these different places,” she said. “AlertID brings it all to one place and actually pushes it out to you so you don’t have to go looking for it. It will come to you.”
The app is available for iPhone and Android. Click here for more information.
