New Airline Coming to Macon
MACON, Georgia- (41NBC/WMGT)- Middle Georgia is getting a new airline that will begin providing flights from Macon to Atlanta this year. Sun Air International will begin flying passengers to Atlanta on December 1st. The Department of Transportation recently awarded the essential air service to Sun Air International.
According to the Director of the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, four round-trip flights per day will be offered Monday thru Friday. Two round-trip flights will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays.
“I think it is important to have air service in Macon. It definitely does a lot for us at the airport. We are able to collect rent and fees from the airlines and the airlines’ employee people directly and indirectly. So, it is important to have air service,” said Doug Four, Manager of Middle Georgia Regional Airport.
Tickets are expected to average around 44 dollars each way.
