MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — With Halloween around the corner, Middle Georgians have a chance to immerse themselves in the dark world of Edgar Allen Poe thanks to a new event at The Society Garden.

Starting Tuesday, October 24 and running through Thursday, October 26, the venue will host “Nevermore: Cocktails with Poe.”

“Everyone will enjoy it, from those who have never heard Poe or about Poe, to those who are rabid fans of Edgar Allen Poe will love it,” writer and director Paige Henson said. “The setting itself, being here in the audience will be a treat like you have not expected!”

The immersive experience, located at the venue’s new performance space, offers a macabre atmosphere where guests can watch actors in 19th-century costumes narrate the life and mysterious death of Poe. During the performance, attendees can sip on four Poe-themed cocktails or their non-alcoholic mocktail equivalents.

“Every minute has been fun,” Henson said. “Every rehearsal, every costume fitting, everything we’re doing has just been lovely and I’ve enjoyed the experience.”

An open bar and an Edgar Allen Poe trivia game will follow the main performance.

The Society Garden is located at 2389 Ingleside Avenue in Macon.

Tickets are $55 per person. If you’d like to purchase tickets and see times for the production, head here.
