MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who shot and killed a man during a home invasion.
The incident happened in East Macon just before 6:00 a.m.
“I’m just scared a little,” says Ashley Knight who lives near the victim.
Neighbors are on edge after 25-year old Casey Harvey was shot and killed in Rockland Apartments.
Harvey’s girlfriend says she was scared for her life because the gunman came into her room first putting a gun to her head. He then went to their son’s room where Harvey was sleeping and shot him.
Family members, friends and neighbors say Harvey was a family man and did not deserve this. They described him as a father of two who loved his family dearly.
No one heard any gunshots, but to hear the outpouring of cries of loved ones hurts their heart.
“I feel bad for that family because she was a woman who had two children and now they have to grow up without their father,” Knight adds.
Bibb deputies say they are working to put the killer behind bars and to keep the neighborhood safe.
“We do our patrols. We try to make contact with residents, do our best. We just need the public’s assistance anytime they see something suspicious, give us a call. We can’t do it without the public,” says Deputy Clay Williams.
Knight continues, “I just hope he gets caught soon.He can go to someone else family. He can come back here and get anyone’s family including mine.”
Harvey’s kids and girlfriend were home at the time of the invasion. they were not hurt. The shooter is still on the run. He was wearing camouflage clothing.
