NCAA Clears Georgia Freshman Caldwell-Pope To Play

ATHENS, GA – Georgia freshman Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been cleared by the NCAA compliance office for the 2011-12 season.

The NCAA reviewed Caldwell-Pope’s status following allegations he received improper benefits from a person in Columbus associated with AAU basketball and the local parks and recreation department.

Georgia’s compliance office says it was notified by the NCAA on Tuesday that Caldwell-Pope, from Greenville, Ga., is eligible for the coming season.

On Aug. 9, the NCAA cleared Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, who also was named in the Columbus investigation.
