UPDATE (10/2/2025): NBCUniversal and Google announced Thursday a long-term distribution agreement that will continue to deliver NBCUniversal’s portfolio of entertainment, news, and sports to millions of customers across Google platforms.

Agreement details

The deal includes a multi-year commitment to carry NBCUniversal’s full lineup of broadcast and cable networks on YouTube TV. Channels include NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, Golf Channel, E!, Oxygen True Crime, MSNBC, USA, Syfy and Universo.

Later this fall, the new NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) will launch on YouTube TV. The channel will expand NBCUniversal’s sports offerings alongside the prominent sports events already carried by NBC’s broadcast network.

The agreement also ensures that Peacock, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, will be offered as a subscription option on YouTube Primetime Channels in the coming months. In addition, the deal extends Peacock’s availability on Google’s Android platforms, including Google Play and Google TV.

Content expansion

As part of the arrangement, YouTube will feature short-form clips, highlights, and shows from NBCUniversal’s premium programming. Films and TV shows from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will remain available for purchase or rental across Google TV, YouTube TV, and YouTube.

NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution’s library films will also stream via subscription video on demand on YouTube Premium and on an ad-supported basis through YouTube Free Primetime Content.

Executives react

“Our new agreement with Google is a clear win for both our business and our viewers – underscoring the enduring value of our must-see shows, films, sports, and live events while expanding our reach to even more audiences,” said Matt Schnaars, President of Platform Distribution & Partnerships at NBCUniversal.

Justin Connolly, Vice President and Global Head of Media & Sports at YouTube, said the deal strengthens a long-standing partnership. “This deal builds on our long-standing partnership with NBCU while addressing the evolving media landscape and recognizing the importance of making content available where and how viewers want to watch it,” Connolly said.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — NBC affiliates are warning YouTube TV subscribers that they could soon lose access to local and national NBC programming if a new distribution agreement is not reached before the current contract expires.

The existing deal is scheduled to end on September 30 at 12:59 p.m. EST. NBC said negotiations are ongoing but has begun notifying viewers about the possibility of a blackout.

Subscribers are being directed to GetYourChannels.com for information on how to take action and to explore alternative platforms where NBC programming remains available.

41NBC/WMGT-TV, the NBC affiliate serving Macon, Warner Robins, and all of Middle Georgia, is among the stations alerting audiences. The potential blackout only affects YouTube TV subscribers, not viewers who watch free over the air, through local cable, or via other distribution partners.

What’s at stake

NBC programming at risk includes popular entertainment shows such as The Voice, Law & Order, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, Chicago P.D., Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and Late Night with Seth Meyers.

Sports coverage could also be disrupted, including Sunday Night Football, NASCAR, Big Ten Football, and Notre Dame Football. Special events such as Football Night in America and other NBC specials are also part of the package.

News programs that could be affected include NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas, TODAY, Dateline NBC, and Meet the Press.

Impact on apps

If the distribution agreement expires, YouTube TV subscribers would also lose access to NBCUniversal’s channel apps on mobile, computer, and connected devices.
