Navicent Trauma Symposium touches on mass casualty preparedness
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Hundreds of first responders, paramedics, nurses and other medical professionals from across the South East gathered to discuss recent and past mass casualty disasters.
This was on Thursday at Navicent Health’s 27th annual Trauma Symposium.
Navicent Health Emergency Manager Stephen Ramsey says with these kinds of attacks happening more and more frequently, it’s important that people in the medical field be prepared and learn from past instances.
“We primarily are focused with these mass casualty incidents, but it’s emergency preparedness as a whole because it’s not a matter of ‘if’ anymore it’s a matter of ‘when’,” said Ramsey.
Some of the talking points were the Orlando night club shooting, the Atlanta Olympics bombing and more recently the Vegas concert shooting.
