Navicent Health awards three students with scholarships

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three students that took part in Navicent Health’s Teen Volunteer Program received the Don Faulk Teen Volunteer Scholarship on Tuesday.

Tarzalyn Outlaw, who contributed nearly 450 hours helping at the hospital, was awarded the top prize of a $1,000 scholarship. Two other students received $500 scholarships.

Volunteering at the hospital allowed Outlaw to feel more confident in her communication skills. She is attending Middle Georgia State University in the fall.

“I was actually able to help out other people when I thought that I was shy at first,” Outlaw said. “But actually being able to communicate with others, it really helped me grow and build myself up more than I thought I was ever before.”

The Don Faulk Scholarship is awarded annually.
