Skating rinks across Middle Georgia invite families to celebrate Roller Skating Month
Local skating rinks are joining the national “Lace Up, Wheels Down, Let’s Skate!” campaign to promote fun, fitness and family time.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Rinks across Middle Georgia are inviting families to lace up their skates and join the fun this National Roller Skating Month.
Level Up Family Entertainment Center in Macon is joining the celebration with open skate sessions that welcome beginners and experienced skaters alike. This year’s national theme, “Lace Up, Wheels Down, Let’s Skate!”, encourages families and friends to get active together while enjoying a sport that combines fitness, fun and community.
Owner Joel Shiver says skating is one of the most enjoyable ways to stay fit.
“It brings fun to exercise because nobody really enjoys running on a treadmill, but before you know it you have burnt several hundred calories just going in a circle for a couple of hours while listening to some good music and seeing some cool lighting,” Shiver said.
The Roller Skating Association hopes the month-long celebration inspires more people to visit their local rink, reconnect with old friends, and make new ones, all while staying active.
Both Level Up and Gray-8-Skate in Middle Georgia are inviting the community to join in and celebrate National Roller Skating Month throughout October.
