National Night Out Across Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Communities across the midstate gathered Tuesday night in celebration of “National Night Out”. The 30th annual event is dedicated to drug prevention, police-community partnerships and anti-crime programs.
In Macon, Sergeant Wanda Ammons with the Macon Police Department partied and patrolled at the block party on Kitchens Road.
“I’m just enjoying the kids and being in their company,” Ammons said.
Demarcus Moon with the Macon-Bibb Fire Department stopped by the Frank Johnson Recreation Center to play a little basketball one-on-one with the kids in the community.
“If you got a dream, strive for it, you can achieve it,” Moon said to the kids, “I’m just being real, this is not made up, if you have a dream, you can achieve it.”
After talking to Moon and other firefighters, 8-year-old Ja’mia Jones-Jackson learned two important things:
“They help people put out fires,” she said, “and they’re good people.”
