National Day of Prayer events scheduled across Middle Georgia on May 1
Communities gather in Macon, Warner Robins, Dublin, Forsyth, and Gray for public prayer observances

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Communities across Middle Georgia are holding local observances Thursday as part of the 74th annual National Day of Prayer, a nationwide event promoting prayer for the nation, its leaders and local communities.
In Macon, a noonday prayer service will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. at Coleman Hill Park, located in front of Mercer University’s School of Law and overlooking downtown. The event is part of a long-standing tradition in the city and will include a series of prayers led by local faith leaders.
In Warner Robins, a simultaneous service will take place in the City Hall Council Chambers at 700 Watson Blvd., also from 12 to 1 p.m. Local pastors and laypersons are expected to participate, with special prayers planned for first responders and law enforcement personnel.
In Dublin, Mayor Joshua Kight recently signed a proclamation recognizing May 1 as the National Day of Prayer, and Dublin residents are invited to join prayer gatherings at the Market on Madison at 12 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Dublin’s National Day of Prayer Task Force is encouraging residents to participate in the observance, which it says promotes awareness of personal repentance and intercession for America.
A brief ceremony is scheduled for 12 p.m. on the Monroe County Courthouse steps in Forsyth, where community leaders will offer prayers for seven areas of influence, including government, education, media, family, and the church.
In Gray, the Jones County National Day of Prayer team has organized a series of events throughout the day at multiple locations, including:
-
Military: 9 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial at the courthouse
-
Government: 12:30 p.m. at the Government Center; 1 p.m. at City Hall
