National Day of Prayer at Macon City Hall

MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) -National Prayer Day in Macon was a chance for believers to recognize how important prayer is, and the people at city told 41 NBC how it impacts their daily lives.

It was a ceremony filled with passion, performances, and prayer.

Bruce Leicht is on the National Day of Prayer committee in Macon and opened the ceremony on Thursday, he calls the day “a time where people of different denominations, people of different faiths can all come together to worship our one God.”

Hundreds gathered in front of city hall to celebrate and also have time with their thoughts in prayer.

A concern among people with faith in God, is that prayer is being taken out of business and schools

Nathan Carter watched the event in the crowd and says the idea of having a relationship with God is mind blowing.

“We, as a country, have neglected…we’ve forgotten our roots,” Carter said.

Macon leaders were in attendance. Macon Mayor Robert Reichert says prayer guides him daily with every decision he makes.

“I pray for wisdom like Solomon in the Bible, I pray for wisdom to make the right decisions for this community, decisions to pull us together in a more cohesive community,” Reichert said.  “I pray to inspire hope an promote pride and civic responsibility in all of our communities.”
