NASCAR Driver Visits Car Dealership In Perry For Fan Club Day

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – NASCAR driver David Ragan made a stop in Perry Thursday afternoon on the eve of the sport’s race weekend in Atlanta.

The 2011 Coke Zero 400 winner held a Fan Club Day at his Ford dealership, meeting fans, taking pictures and signing autographs.

The Unadilla native wasn’t the only local celebrity at the event; former Georgia quarterback David Greene was also in attendance, along with former UGA head coach Ray Goff.

Ragan says he always enjoys coming back home to see the people he doesn’t get to see week in and week out during the grueling NASCAR circuit. He also says he looks forward to racing again at Atlanta Motor Speedway-his home track.

“The surface is worn out so you can really slip/slide around,” says Ragan. “There’s really no ideal groove–you really move around, so, I think Atlanta is a fan favorite; it’s a driver’s favorite. (During) qualifying that Friday night under the lights, we’re up to 190 mph average, so it’s a lot of fun.”

The green flag will drop on Atlanta’s AdvoCare 500 at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday.
