Multiple shootings over the weekend leave 4 dead, several injured in Macon-Bibb

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office is investigating a series of violent incidents that unfolded across Macon over the past two days, leaving four people dead and several others injured.

BIBB COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of violent incidents that unfolded across Macon over the past two days, leaving four people dead and several others injured.

Sheriff David J. Davis says deputies and investigators are working around the clock to solve each case.

Sharon Drive Domestic Incident

Just before 12:30 a.m. on February 21, deputies responded to the 3300 block of Sharon Drive, where they say a man tried to break into his estranged wife’s home. During the incident, the man was shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies arrested Davia Lee Evans Jr. and charged him with criminal damage to property and family violence battery.

Florence Avenue Homicide

Later that evening, at 6:58 p.m., deputies were called to the 1500 block of Florence Avenue for reports of a person shot. Investigators say Shavis Adams was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. That case remains under investigation.

Teen Shot on North Atwood Drive

At 7:24 p.m., a 17-year-old was shot while walking along North Atwood Drive in the 1600 block. He was taken to the hospital by private vehicle and is listed in stable condition. Deputies continue to investigate.

Key Street Shooting Injures Three

Just before midnight, gunfire erupted at a home in the 700 block of Key Street. A 7-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man were all hurt when someone fired into the home. All three victims were taken to a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Holt Avenue Shooting

Around 1:29 a.m. on February 22, shots were fired into a home in the 1200 block of Holt Avenue, striking a 17-year-old boy. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and remains in stable condition.

Triple Fatal Shooting Near Moseley and Cedar

At 3:35 a.m., deputies responded to the area of Moseley Avenue and Cedar Avenue, where three men were shot and killed. Investigators identified the victims as 25-year-old Charleston Burnett, 25-year-old Jordan Gardner, and 26-year-old Willie Cain. All three were pronounced dead at the scene. That investigation is ongoing.

Vehicle Shot at on Bloomfield Drive

Just after 6:30 a.m., two women were injured when someone opened fire on their vehicle near Bloomfield Drive and Williamson Road as they attempted to pass another car. Their conditions have not been released.

Dewey Street Shooting

Later Saturday afternoon, just before 3:00 p.m., a woman was struck by gunfire after shots were fired into a vehicle in the 1300 block of Dewey Street. She was taken to a local hospital and is listed in stable condition.

 

Sheriff Davis called the recent violence “shocking” for the community.

“These incidents have shocked our community,” Davis said. “Sheriff’s Office deputies and investigators are working relentlessly to bring justice to each victim. Let me be clear — this violence in our community will not be tolerated. We are committed to identifying those responsible and holding them accountable.”

The sheriff also urged the public to come together and help investigators by sharing information.

Deputies say, at this time, the incidents do not appear to be connected.
