Teething toys recalled after 15 choking incidents reported
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of approximately 50,000 Ai-Tui-Tui pull string teething toys due to a serious choking hazard. The toys, manufactured by Chinese company Vanfun, were sold on Amazon between August 2022 and September 2025.
According to the CPSC, the toys violate mandatory federal safety standards because their silicone strings are smaller than permitted. The undersized strings can reach the back of a child’s throat and become lodged, posing risks of respiratory distress, choking, and death.
15 choking incidents have been reported to date. Consumers who purchased the recalled toys should immediately stop using them and contact Vanfun for a full refund.

No injuries have been reported. The recalled toys were sold nationwide and online at HobbyLobby.com from May through December 2025.
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the toys and return them to the nearest Hobby Lobby store for a full refund.

Proper disposal is critical due to the product’s methanol content. The glue should be disposed of according to local and state hazardous waste regulations. Consumers should contact their local hazardous waste treatment center and should not dispose of the product in sewers, rainwater pipes, or ordinary garbage cans, as it could cause fires or environmental pollution.
