Much cooler air takes over Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Much cooler temperatures settle into Middle Georgia today. We’ve talked about a cool wedge of high pressure the whole week on Daybreak, and now it has arrived as promised.

Our morning low will still run above the average — mid to upper 50s as opposed to the norm of 50 on the dot. But compared to the lows we’ve had recently (69 on the 14th), this is a big cooldown. During the afternoon, thick cloud cover will keep the warm sunlight out of our area, so expect to bring the long pants out of the closet (just when you thought you were done with them!). Highs today will be in the mid 60s. If you plan to travel west or south of Middle Georgia, it will be considerably warmer in the 70s.

The chance for showers continues this morning and afternoon, but the chance for storms is low. And the chance for severe weather? Ha! What chance? No severe weather is forecasted for today or tomorrow.

An increased chance for rain arrives Sunday and Monday, followed by — FINALLY — abundant sunshine Tuesday and Wednesday.
