MPD: SunTrust Bank Robber in Custody

suspectMACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man who robbed a SunTrust Bank in Macon on Monday is in custody.

According to a release from the Macon Police Department, U.S. Marshals located and arrested 31 year-old William Jeffery Lowder in a room at the Red Roof Inn at 4951 Eisenhower Parkway.

A search warrant was executed on the room and Lowder admitted he robbed the bank because he needed money. A small amount of money was recovered, in addition to the shirt he was wearing during the robbery, and a small amount of marijuana.

MPD says Lowder was found through a Crimestoppers tip. The search warrant was executed jointly by the U.S. Marshals, the Macon Police Department and the Bibb Sheriff’s Office.

Monday, Lowder entered the bank at 3600 Mercer University Drive with no disguise and handed the teller a note, asking for money.

He was charged with Robbery by Intimidation and a Superior Court Probation Violation. This is his 10th Bibb County arrest, and he was most recently released in March of 2012.
