MPD: Northeast Student Special Needs

Macon Police Spokesperson Jami Gaudet has confirmed the 16 year-old Northeast High School student, who was allegedly raped on January 19th, is a special needs student.

She also tells 41 NBC the investigation was formally turned over to Macon Police yesterday. Gaudet says Chief Mike Burns is personally reviewing the file to figure out what steps to take in this investigation.

According to Gaudet, the District Attorney’s Office is working closely with police. Greg Winters tells 41 NBC the 3 juveniles involved in this case will be charged as adults.

41 NBC learned yesterday after receiving the Bibb County Campus Police incident report from January 19th, 7 male students, ages 14-18 are charged with rape.

The alleged rape happened in a boys restroom.
