Mount de Sales Academy and Macon Water Authority premiers Running Water 5K race
More than $2,500 was raised from the 5K race.
MWA will put the money in a trust fund to be used to install bottle filling stations at Mount de Sales Academy and First Presbyterian Day school. The schools will determine when they are installed.
“Macon has some of the best water in the country,” says Mount de Sales Counselor and the school’s Environmental Club Sponsor, Paul Midkiff. “There’s no need for anybody in the city of Macon to buy bottled water, because you got something cheaper and better regulated and better quality coming right out of your tap.”
Josh Thompson won first place in the race. Thompson is a member of the MDS cross country team.
Six other schools had people competing in the race but were unable to raise enough money to install water bottle filling stations.
