Morton to seek re-election to Bibb School Board

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- Bibb County school board member Daryl Morton says he is running for re-election. Morton won the At-Large Post 7 school member seat in 2014.

Morton made his announcement today at The Rookery in Downtown Macon. He says every child should get a quality education and teachers, and students deserve to be safe inside of schools. He told us the graduation rate in Bibb County has gone from 52% to 77% in the last three years.

He added, “I want to continue the ‘victory in progress’ in the school system. We’ve seen tremendous gains in graduation rates… The system is moving forward and moving forward in a way I am tremendously proud of.”

Morton says he also wants to run because his granddaughter will begin Pre-K next year at a Bibb County school.

Right now, no one else has announced a campaign for this seat. Qualifying begins the week of March 5th. Election day is May 22nd.
