Several key U.S. economic reports that were previously delayed are set for release this week.

(LILAMAX)- Several key U.S. economic reports that were previously delayed are set for release this week, and analysts say the data could help determine the market’s direction as investors look for fresh signals on the economy.
Among the most anticipated is the November jobs report, which is arriving about 10 days later than usual because of the recent government shutdown. Investors are also catching up on retail sales data, with October figures scheduled to be released in the coming days. Together, the reports are expected to provide a clearer picture of the labor market and consumer spending heading into the end of the year.
On the corporate front, Disney CEO Bob Iger raised concerns about the possibility of Netflix acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming and studio assets. Iger warned that such a deal could be harmful to consumers. Under the proposed structure, Warner Bros. Discovery’s linear television networks would be spun off into a separate publicly traded company, while Netflix would take control of Warner Bros.’ core entertainment assets.
Markets ended last week on a down note as investors rotated out of technology stocks and into other sectors. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 245 points, the S&P 500 dropped 1.1%, and the Nasdaq slid nearly 400 points.
In transportation news, thousands of Amtrak workers are set to receive holiday bonuses. More than 18,000 unionized Amtrak employees will each get a $900 bonus this season. According to The Wall Street Journal, the move is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to restructure Amtrak’s bonus program for executives and managers.
Meanwhile, new survey data shows Americans are continuing to prioritize travel. In 2025, the average traveler spent $2,261 on trips and visited three new places. Looking ahead, 2026 is expected to be an even bigger travel year, with beach vacations and road trips leading the way. The survey, conducted by Talker Research on behalf of CheapCaribbean Vacations, found respondents also expanded their horizons by visiting an average of two new states and one new country in 2025.
