More Clean-Up at Macon-Bibb Animal Control

Wednesday marks day two of intense clean-up at the Macon-Bibb Animal Control Shelter. The effort comes after workers learned the facility contained two deadly diseases, Parvo and Giardia. As animal rescue volunteers scrub down the shelter the remaining dogs and cats are safe and sound.

“We were mandated and directed by the state that we had to have all the animals moved so that we can clean this shelter without having it re-contaminated by animals who may be carrying it on them when they come back or are going through this shelter,” explained Robert Carr, Macon-Bibb Animal Control Interim Director.

Volunteers will spend Thursday cleaning the shelter. Animals are expected to be brought back to Macon-Bibb Animal Control Friday, where they’ll be quarantined for another 14 days.
