Monster Trucks Crushing Macon Centreplex
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you have no regard for your hearing, you like watching cars get crushed by huge trucks, and jet engines rev your engine, the Macon Centreplex is the place to be this weekend.
The Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam monster truck show has pulled into town, and they are ready to destroy and do some serious damage.
The Centreplex floor has been turned into a makeshift car dump, with red and yellow busted up lemons lined up for destruction. This year’s show features six different trucks, a jet-engine golf cart, and more noise than the human ear should ever have to endure.
Truck drivers will be competing for the fastest lap around the arena, a wheelie contest, even a donut contest.
Did we mention that Grave Digger will be in town this weekend too? Driver Gary Porter says fans can expect a show like none other this year.
“We’ve got our work cut out for us,” Porter said.
The show is on a concrete floor, not dirt. But Porter says he is fine with that. In fact, there are things the trucks do better on concrete than on dirt.
“We can get just as much air, and we can do some awesome donuts on concrete that we can’t do on dirt. The fans get to see the trucks running and do more at these shows than at dirt shows.”
There is even a chance to meet the drivers, and get up and close and personal with the trucks. From 11:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. on Saturday, fans with Pit Party passes are allowed on the floor of the Centreplex to get pictures, autographs, and see just how massive these monster trucks really are.
