Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal motorcycle crash

The fatal motorcycle crash took place on Hwy 87 on Saturday, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Anna Watkins.

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that took place on Hwy 87 on Saturday, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Anna Watkins.

The fatal accident occured August 24 at approximately 6:10 p.m.

According to Watkins, the preliminary investigation indicates that a pick up truck was traveling on Hwy  87 north and was attempting to turn into their driveway, when a motorcycle attempted to pass.

18-year-old Austin Tucker has been identified as the driver of the truck and was not injured.

48-year-old Kary Kinman was the driver of the motorcycle and is in critical but stable condition.

The passenger of the motorcycle, 45-year-old Tonya Helms Hammond, was pronounced dead on scene.

The accident is still under investigation.
