Monroe County judge looks to reverse retirement amid investigation
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Monroe County’s Probate Judge, Karen Pitman, says she’s looking into reversing her decision to retire at the end of the year.
A document from the state’s Judicial Qualifications Commission shows Pitman is scheduled to retire on December 15 after allegations of “irregularities in the processing of Uniform Traffic Citations” in the probate court.
An official with the JQC says the paperwork for Pitman’s retirement was submitted on Thursday.
Pitman tells 41NBC she initially wanted to retire after “personal challenges” she was facing, but she wants to complete her term which is scheduled to end in 2016.
