Monroe County deputies investigate possible human waste dumping at Pope’s Ferry Landing

MONROE COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after what appeared to be human waste was found in the river near Pope’s Ferry Landing.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched to the area Tuesday, August 25, following a report of illegal dumping that may have come from a commercial portable toilet waste recovery truck.
The person who reported the incident told deputies they saw what appeared to be human waste in the river when they arrived at Pope’s Ferry Landing. They did not see any vehicles or people in the area.
