Monroe Co. Man Found Dead in his Car

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident that left a 78 year old dead inside his car.  John W. Smith was found Wednesday night. 

The MonroeCounty man called 911 to report he was trapped.  Emergency crews searched the area where Smith said he was and found his car engulfed in flames about two miles from his home.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a news release, the victim had some health issues and also suffered from dementia.

No foul play is suspected, but the investigation continues.
