Missing man found dead in Flint River, investigation underway
The Crawford County Sheriff's Office says 53-year-old Jody C. Hedley was last heard from on August 5.

CRAWFORD COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A missing man was found dead in the Flint River on August 7, according to Sheriff Lewis Walker.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office says 53-year-old Jody C. Hedley was last heard from on August 5. Around 5:40 p.m. the next day, a family member realized they couldn’t get in touch with Hedley and reported him missing.
Deputies were told Hedley might be near the Flint River Boat Ramp off of Georgia Highway 128.
Deputies searched that area the same day but did not find Hedley.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office resumed the search on August 7. Hedley’s body was found in the river south of the Flint River Boat Ramp.
Deputy Coroner Randall Pate pronounced Hadley dead on the scene. His body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are working to find the cause of Hadley’s death.
