Milledgeville’s Special Master releases ethics complaints ruling
Patrick Longan rules City Manager Barry Jarrett violated his authority when he withdrew 5.1 million dollars from Century Bank and Trust and invested it with Wells Fargo last March.
“They should abide by the ethics code they adopted. They need to come out to the citizens of Milledgeville and say we will be ethical from now on,” explains Milledgeville resident Melba Burrell.
41NBC reached out to Jarrett for comment, but the city planner told us he was not available.
Interim Mayor Jeanette Walden sent us a statement regarding the ruling. It says, in part, Longan’s ruling “did not bring any new information to light, as all of the facts of the matter have been public record for sometime now. The city appreciates the importance of this process.”
The decision on what to do about Jarrett is now in the hands of the city council. There’s no timeline if or when anything will happen.
