Milledgeville Woman Wins $50,000 in Lottery Scratch Game

ATLANTA – A grandmother from Milledgeville is enjoying a surprising windfall courtesy of the Georgia Lottery.

Belinda Hill, 56, has won the top prize of $50,000 after playing the new instant win game “Fire & Ice”, according to a Georgia Lottery release sent out today.

Hill, a juvenile corrections officer, purchased the winning ticket at a Jet Food Store located on S. Wayne Street in Milledgeville and scratched it off in the driveway of her mother-in-law’s home.

“I was blowing my horn like crazy,” she said. “My husband was sitting on the porch. He couldn’t believe it, and I couldn’t either.”

The mother of three adult sons and ten grandchildren plans on using the winnings to buy land to move her mobile home.

“I’m just so thankful,” she exclaimed.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has contributed $14.3 billion to the state for educational endeavors, such as Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship and Georgia’s Pre-K programs.
