Milledgeville WalMart Manager Arrested for Stealing iPhones
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A WalMart assistant manager who works in the electronics department of the Milledgeville store was arrested after police say she stole thousands of dollars worth of smartphones and DVDs.
According to Milledgeville Police Major Reggie Hill, Pamela Martinez was arrested on Tuesday. WalMart opened its own investigation into the thefts in September and MPD was brought in last month.
Hill says investigators poured over hours of surveillance video which showed Martinez stealing iPhone 5’s and new release DVD movies. According to Hill, Martinez stole a total of $17,325.50 since the investigation began.
Martinez is currently booked in the Baldwin County jail. She is charged with one felony count of theft by taking. Hill expects more charges to be filed as the investigation continues.
Investigators say Martinez may have sold some of the stolen phones. MPD is asking those people to bring the phones into the police department. If the phones are turned in, then no charges will be filed. You can call Detective Henderson at (478) 414-4079.
