Milledgeville Teen Dies After Swim Accident Near College Campus

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A tragic incident claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy in Baldwin County.

Tyrique Jackson and two of his friends jumped the fence to swim at Centennial Pool at Georgia College and State University, according to the college’s communications director Brittany Johnson.

Johnson says the pool was closed for the season.

Baldwin County coroner John Gonzales told 41 NBC after Jackson’s friends yelled for help, a college student pulled him out of the water, and gave him CPR around 6:00 p.m.

Police arrived to the scene shortly after.

Jackson was immediately taken to the Oconee Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:54 p.m.

Gonzales says the GBI will perform an autopsy tomorrow morning.
