Milledgeville Residents Turn Trash into Art

Trash turns into beautiful pieces of art for local artists in Milledgeville. Creative Expression Studios specializes in helping artists with disabilities, and those artists are show off their talents in a special exhibit.

Waste Not: Recycled Art Show takes everything from broken glass to cardboard and turns it into art.

“It’s so much better for us to actually make something out of these materials for other people to enjoy, and it’s away for our artists to give back to the community without being wasteful,” says art coordinator Katie Whipple.

The exhibit was four years in the making, and everything in it was donated. There are 50 pieces of original artwork. Each of the items are also for sale.

“The proceeds go back to the artist with a small portion coming back to support the arts program.”

Waste Not: Recycled Art Show is open now through June 30th. An exhibit Opening is scheduled from Wednesday June 8th starting at 5:30pm. The art show is at the Blackbridge Hall Art Gallery.
