Milledgeville Police issue murder warrant in Friday shooting

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A teen is on the run after a shooting Friday left one woman dead and another injured.

Milledgeville Police say 19-year-old Dontavius Janard Dixon shot 25-year-old Jaquisha Smith, and another woman, 47-year-old Robin Canty on West Thomas Court around 9:30 p.m. Smith died and Canty was taken to the hospital, where she’s in stable condition.

“It was a neighborhood altercation that escalated into gunfire, and that’s when these two people were shot,” explained Sgt. Chris Paul. “Milledgeville Police responded to the scene and found Ms. Smith unresponsive.”
