Milledgeville City Manager Barry Jarrett Will Keep His Job
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Milledgeville City Manager will keep his job. Council members voted not to agree with the Special Master, and ask for Barry Jarrett’s resignation. Councilman Walter Reynolds was the one who voted against the majority.
In a statement sent to 41NBC, Jarrett writes, “I am grateful that City Council decided not to accept or follow the recommendation of the Special Master. I look forward to putting this unfortunate episode behind me and continuing to serve the citizens of Milledgeville. In my years of service to this City, I have always tried to act in the best interest of the citizens and I will continue to do so.”
After reviewing the ethics complaint made against Jarrett, the Special Master ruled that he violated his authority when he withdrew $5.1 million from Century Bank & Trust, and invested it with Wells Fargo last March.
