Milledgeville City Councilman Facing Ethics Complaint Won’t Seek Re-Election
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The current District Four councilman for the City of Milledgeville announced he is not seeking re-election this year.
Phillip Joiner told 41NBC he decided earlier this week to not run for office. Joiner says his decision has “absolutely” nothing to do with the ethics complaint filed against him. A downtown business owner filed the complaint earlier this year and the first hearing is scheduled for next month.
Joiner says he wants to spend more time with his family. He adds he wants to feel happy again doing the things he loves, like performing.
He says there is still a lot to accomplish in his last five months of holding office.
Joiner was elected in November 2009. His district covers most of downtown Milledgeville.
