MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Middle Georgia Regional Library is launching its Summer Reading Challenge to encourage reading across all age groups.
The program runs from June 2 through July 31 and includes a variety of incentives for participants.
Andrew Willis, marketing coordinator at Middle Georgia Regional Library, said participants can earn rewards such as coupons to local restaurants, free books and library-themed merchandise.
“Last year, middle Georgia readers exceeded our goal of 3 million minutes of reading and the goal this year is 5 million minutes,” Willis said. He added that readers are being encouraged to challenge themselves by reading 25 hours this summer.
The Summer Reading Program will also feature free activities, including visits from the Museum of Arts and Sciences, magic shows, parties with snacks and games, craft sessions with Artspace Macon, virtual reality gaming, interactive storytimes and more.
