Middle Georgia Hospice Nurse arrested on prescription fraud charges
Diane Boutwell Godfrey was apprehended in Bibb County and was initially charged with 17 counts of distribution of prescribed medicine without an order form, but as the police investigation continued, it led to new charges being filed against the certified nurse, according to Milledgeville Police Maj. Reginald Hill.
Now, the 58-year-old nurse is facing 54 counts of prescription fraud. Godfrey worked as a nurse at Hospice Care Options in Milledgeville and she was terminated from Agape Hospice in Macon, according to Maj. Hill.
The police major said Godfrey was using fake prescription order forms, and calling in prescriptions as if she was following doctor’s orders, to get the prescriptions filled at Medical Arts Pharmacy and CVS Pharmacy.
“The investigation is on-going and more charges are pending,” said Maj. Hill.
Godfrey is scheduled to appear before a Baldwin County Magistrate Court Judge on Friday.
