Middle Georgia Honor Flight offering free trips for Veterans to D.C. memorials in 2024
Middle Georgia Honor Flight has taken nearly 300 veterans on 18 flights since 2018.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Veterans in Middle Georgia now have another opportunity to visit war memorials in Washington, D.C.—all for free.
Since its founding in 2018, Middle Georgia Honor Flight has been rooted in providing an experience to veterans who served in conflicts like World War II, Korea and Vietnam the opportunity to visit the nation’s capitol.
“We went to see the Air Force, Marine Corp, and the World War II Memorials,” Sgt. Burl R. Jimmerson said.
Jimmerson, who served in the Vietnam War, went on the second flight in 2018. He says the experience is one he will always remember and one veterans should experience for themselves.
“Bring your tissues,” he said.
In partnership with Contour Airlines, the program provides a completely free experience via a flight from Middle Georgia Regional Airport. Veterans are either assigned or get to chose a guardian to accompany them on the trip.
