Middle Georgia Girl Scouts and American Red Cross Partner to Save Lives

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three Girls Scouts and the American Red Cross teamed up to host a blood drive in Middle Georgia.

Their mission is to help save as many lives as they can by getting people to donate blood. According to the Red Cross website, for every pint of blood donated, three lives can be saved.

Troop #60504 is working on completing their Silver Award community service project. The Silver Award is a prestigious award honoring Cadette Girl Scouts who complete over 50 hours of community service through caused-based projects, like the blood drive.

The scouts decided to partner with the Red Cross in Warner Robins in hopes of exceeding their goal of more than a hundred donors.

The event lasted for 5 hours at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where family and friends, members of the community, and veterans showed their support by giving the gift of life.

“Well, I was in the service, and I seen where blood is needed and every time they come around to give blood, I’m usually one to be right there giving it…to help others,” blood donor Burl Jimmerson said.
