"I think it's really important to always show everybody, not only on the holidays, but all throughout the year that you love them and your thinking of them, and what better way than flowers."
Local Flower Shops Are Working Around The Clock To Make Valentine's Day Extra Special

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Love is in the air this week as Valentine’s Day approaches on Friday., and local flower shops are working around the clock to provide great service.

Florist Julie Dominy says she loves Valentine’s Day, because she loves to see the happiness it brings.

“How they make people feel, I feel like it’s kind of a lost art,” she said of flowers. “So we’re trying to be a little different and creative and bring back a little jazz around the flower again.”

Dominy says with so much going on, we all need some love around this time of year.

“I think it’s really important always to show everybody, not only on the holidays, but all throughout the year, that you love them and you’re thinking about them, and what better way than flowers?” she said.

41NBC also visited Forget Me Not florist in Warner Robins, where manager Matthew Tatman says they have already taken orders.

“We are just slowly but surely kind of getting everything in order,” he said. “We’re trying to get all our flowers in one place. Our wholesaler brought a a bunch of flowers over the weekend, so we’re trying to get all of those in water and get them all just fresh and ready to be able to put into vases, make into arrangements.”

Tatman says Valentine’s Day has become a staple in his family’s flower shop.

“Pretty much everybody that you’re delivering to is gonna be happy that’s happy to receive flowers, so for the most part, it’s a pretty rewarding career,” he said. “It’s like genuinely bringing joy to people. That’s obviously something that’s pretty great to see.”
