MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Middle Georgia couple is raising awareness and hosting a fundraiser about Multiple Myeloma.

Lenard Tolbert noticed pain in his hips and lower-back in 2022. Tolbert found out his M protein was extremely high and further testing was required.

After extensive testing, Tolbert was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2023. Tolbert says his faith in God and his support system is what kept him fighting.

Lenard’s wife, Eloise, says they are thankful for their family throughout this whole process. Lenard is now in remission and hopes to raise awareness about this cancer.

The Tolbert family will be hosting a Multiple Myeloma fundraiser on October 5 for the community.

The event will be at Peach Park in Byron (461 White Road) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There will be medical professionals and survivors speaking at the fundraiser. There will also be prizes given away throughout the day.
