Candidates qualify for congressional races affecting Middle Georgia voters
Races in Georgia’s 2nd, 8th, 10th and 12th congressional districts will appear on the May 19 primary ballot.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)— Candidates have qualified for several congressional races that will appear on the May 19 primary ballot affecting Middle Georgia voters.
The races include Georgia’s 2nd, 8th, 10th, and 12th congressional districts. Voters will choose party nominees during the primary, and the winners will advance to the general election on November 3.
District 2
In Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District, incumbent Democrat Sanford Bishop Jr. has qualified to run for reelection.
Republican Benjamin Day has also qualified for the race.
Both candidates are unopposed in their respective primaries and will face each other in the general election.
The district includes parts of Bibb County, Crawford County, Peach County, Taylor County, Macon County, and Dooly County.
District 8
In Georgia’s 8th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Austin Scott has qualified for reelection.
Two Democrats have qualified for the primary to challenge Scott.
Justin Lucas and Kelly Esti will compete for the Democratic nomination. The winner will face Scott in the general election.
District 10
Georgia’s 10th Congressional District is an open race because incumbent Mike Collins is running for the U.S. Senate.
Three Democrats have qualified to run for the seat.
Alexandra “Lexy” Doherty of Clarke County qualified on March 2. Doherty lists her occupation as candidate.
John B. Dority of Oglethorpe County qualified on March 6. Dority lists his occupation as a retired engineer.
Pamela “Pam” Delancy of Henry County qualified on March 3. Delancy is a military retiree.
Three Republicans have also qualified for the race.
Houston Gaines of Clarke County qualified on March 2. Gaines lists his occupation as small business development.
Jeffrey Dwayne Baker of Oglethorpe County qualified on March 4. Baker lists his occupation as a plumber.
Ryan Christopher Millsap of Newton County qualified on March 4. Millsap lists his occupation as an entrepreneur.
The winners of the Democratic and Republican primaries will advance to the general election.
Counties in the 41NBC coverage area included in the district are Baldwin County, Hancock County, Washington County, and Johnson County.
District 12
Georgia’s 12th Congressional District is currently represented by Republican Rick Allen, who has qualified to run for reelection.
Several counties in the 41NBC coverage area are part of the district, including Laurens, Telfair, Wheeler, and Treutlen counties.
Five Democrats have qualified for the primary.

Incumbent Rick Allen of Richmond County qualified on March 3.
Tori Brett Branum of Laurens County qualified on March 4. Branum lists her occupation as a firearms trainer.
The Democratic and Republican nominees will be decided in the May primary election. The winners will advance to the general election for Georgia’s 12th Congressional District seat.
