We were able to add on administrative space where we can have enough staff to be able to bring food in here, and then distribute it out to our over 200 partner agencies.”

The food bank added on more footage to expand its administrative office space. It now has a conference room and new dock plates, which will allow the food bank to fit three trucks instead of just one.

“This has been a fantastic morning to see the results of being able to put some federal funding into a community that matched the funding and is going to make a generational impacts on people who are experience food insecurity across Middle Georgia,” Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs Rusty Haygood said.

The Middle Georgia Community Food Bank was founded in 1981. It feeds people in need in 24 counties across Middle Georgia.
