Middle Georgia Back in Business

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia is thawing out and everyone is working to get back to normal.

Thursday, Macon Transit Authority resumed bus service and the Sears store at the Galleria Mall opened its doors.

All of MTA’s bus drivers and staff reported back to work, and every sales associate at the Centerville Sears store also returned to work.

Tim lewis, the general manager of the Galleria Mall Sears, says the store closed early Tuesday, due to the snow storm.
Lewis says Sears reopened at 10 am, one hour earlier than the mall on Thursday.

“Every thing’s going great we had several customers in the store, sold a few stoves already, a few heaters, and actually sold one tractor surprisingly,” says Lewis. “But, things are getting back to normal. So we’re happy with that.”

Lewis said only three sales associates showed up for work on Wednesday. But, when he was told the Galleria Mall would not open that day, he sent them home.
Nearly 40 sears customers were at the store Thursday before 12 noon and there were riders waiting for their buses at the MTA terminal, which were clear indicators that things are getting back to normal.
