Middle Georgia athletes honored at Macon Touchdown Club Spring Jamboree
The Macon Touchdown Club recognized some of the best high school football players in Georgia Monday night

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A packed gymnasium at the Methodist Home for Children hosted the annual Macon Touchdown Club Spring Jamboree Monday night, where several standout high school football players from the Middle Georgia area were honored for their achievements on and off the field.
The highlight of the evening was a speech and Q&A session with University of Georgia head football coach Kirby Smart, who addressed the crowd about life and football. Three student-athletes from Middle Georgia took home prestigious awards. Northeast running back Nick Woodford was named Back of the Year, Southwest lineman and Region Tight End of the Year, Rinaldo Callaway, earned Lineman of the Year honors, and Stratford kicker Stebin Horne was recognized as Special Teams Player of the Year.
The Marvin Davis Coach of the Year Award went to Northeast head coach Jeremy Wiggins, who claimed the honor for the third time after leading his team to the state championship game — a first in program history.
Two Houston County players were recognized with the Super Seven Award, given to seven rising stars expected to make an impact next season. Wide receiver Kavon Conciauro and safety Jordan Smith represented Middle Georgia with those honors.
Additionally, several Macon-area athletes were awarded Bobby Gene Sanders Memorial Scholarships for their excellence on and off the field. Covenant Academy’s Asa Wood, Stratford’s Brooks Garner, Howard’s Donald Williams, Nate Frankum from Mount De Sales, and Tattnall Square Academy’s William Stuart all earned the honor and scholarship.
After the ceremony, Horne, Wiggins, and Konciauro reflected on their achievements.
“I feel like it’s been an accumulation of all the hard work over the past four years,” said Horne. “It means a lot to get rewarded in the end, and it’s really an honor to be a winner with all these guys here. I just want to give a shout out to all my teammates who helped me get to this point, especially Jett Johnston and David Garnett — my long snapper and holder — I couldn’t do it without them.”
Wiggins expressed his pride in his team’s accomplishments. “Every time you win it, it feels good,” he said. “All the hard work you put in through the summer and throughout the year — it’s just a good payoff that I’m so proud of. We’re glad we are able to celebrate a good year, a historic year for our school and for Bibb County.”
Konciauro reflected on his journey. “Looking back on last year and the obstacles I had to overcome, it’s truly a blessing to be here, and I’m very thankful,” he said. “It was kind of a hard transition, going into a whole new program and school, trying to balance everything, plus all the negativity that came with transferring. It was a lot, but I overcame it. I’d just like to thank the man above, thank my parents, and thank all my coaches who supported me through this. We’re going to keep working.”
